POWER OF THE SUN
Around the world, one in ten people live beyond the reach of the electricity grid. Solar energy offers the promise of a better life and a way to create a balanced and healthy world. We’ve collaborated with Hye Sea, B. D. Graft, Pia Riverola and Jordy van den Nieuwendijk in support of Little Sun, who are harnessing the power of the sun to provide clean, fair energy that changes peoples’ lives.
LITTLE SUN
Little Sun was founded in 2012 by artist Olafur Eliasson, together with solar engineer Frederik Ottesen, driven by a vision to provide universal access to clean energy. Their original idea to create a small, portable solar lamp for people living without electricity, has grown into a global project and changed millions of lives through the power of the sun.

HYE SEA
Hye Sea, a solar engraving artist and self proclaimed fire starter, uses the sun, amplified through magnifying glasses, to engrave her art onto reclaimed wood. In a perfect demonstration of the power of the sun, Hye Sea uses accessible resources and environmental materials to create her artwork, leading the way towards a waste-less art world.

JORDY VAN DEN NIEUWENDIJK
Born and raised in the Netherlands and now located in Melbourne. After studying illustration in Rotterdam, Jordy studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague where he graduated in 2011. “Just as our sun does, ever so often, I hope that this collection too, brings joy and happiness.”

THE IMPACT
Through their solar powered projects, Little Sun have enabled 58 million additional study hours for children, reduced 800,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions and saved households $150 million. They’ve delivered solar lamps to students in Sub-Saharan Africa so they can study at night, distributed solar phone chargers to frontline health workers so they can treat patients in remote communities and brought solar energy to farmers and small businesses to create jobs, boost livelihoods and generate new opportunities. 50% of all proceeds from this collection will be shared equally between Little Sun and the artists involved.
