Movement For Black Lives Collection
Our collection in support of Movement For Black Lives featured a collaboration with artists Anthony White and Travis Keller. The collection was inspired by the demand for change felt across the globe and the importance of contributing positively to this movement. Movement For Black Lives is a space for Black organisations to develop shared assessments of what political interventions are necessary for key policy, cultural and political wins. It was founded under the fundamental idea that we can achieve so much more together than we can when divided. 100% of the proceeds from this collection will always be donated to the Movement For Black Lives Fund.
Movement For Black Lives
The Movement for Black Lives is an ecosystem of individuals and organisations creating a shared vision and policy agenda to win rights, recognition and resources for Black people. Their transformative goals aim to bridge the current gap between the institutions that affect the Black community and the percentage of representation these communities have within the leadership of such institutions. Black communities must have the ability to create, shape and influence agendas that ultimately affect their lives.
The excruciating images of George Floyd’s final moments, as he died in police custody fuelled a global fury, as another black man who died at the hands of the police. There are no words to describe the hurt and anger felt across the World. We have been confronted with the reality that we live in a racist society, with systems of oppression so deep rooted those who did not feel them, did not see them either. The recent protests gives hope for meaningful social progress on the issue of policing, but the systemic racism is so entrenched in our society, politics, education and institutions that we must go further to ensure we break the chain of continuity of racists and racism.
